About Foldline
Foldline is a small set of PDF tools that run entirely in your web browser. It exists because everyday jobs like combining two documents, pulling out one page or trimming a scanned margin shouldn’t require uploading private files to a third party or installing software.
How it works
Your browser opens the PDF with pdf.js to draw page thumbnails, and edits it with pdf-lib to build the new file. Both libraries run locally in the page. Adding and removing passwords uses qpdf compiled to WebAssembly, and OCR uses Tesseract, which also run in your browser. Foldline’s servers only deliver the website itself; they never receive your documents.
What you can do today
- Merge PDFs: Add files, drag pages into order, then download one PDF.
- Organize pages: Rearrange pages, turn them, or remove the ones you don’t need.
- Split & extract: Select the pages you want and save them as a new PDF.
- Crop pages: Draw the area to keep on each page, or apply one crop to all.
- Compress PDF: Type the file size you need, like 1 MB, and get a PDF that fits.
- OCR PDF: Turn scanned pages into a PDF you can search and copy text from.
- Remove password: Enter the password once and save a copy that opens without one.
- Add password: Choose a password and save an encrypted copy of your PDF.
How Foldline is funded
Foldline is free to use and has no accounts or paywalls.
